Child Pornography Charges Filed in Mercer County, NJ

NJ.com has reported that a twenty-four year old male from Princeton Township was charged with not only possessing but distributing child pornography last Tuesday. Based on the reports, it appears that authorities from the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office were first tipped off about the Defendant’s alleged conduct by National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. After investigating the tip, the authorities learned that the “sharing” of the pornography was coming from an IP address in Princeton. It is unclear at this point in time what specifically revealed to authorities that the Defendant was their suspect as an IP address only indicates where the images were being “shared” from.

The Defendant was taken into custody in Princeton and transported to the Mercer County jail. At the Defendant’s Central Judicial Processing Hearing (CJP), the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office filed for a Detention Hearing. During this hearing the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office will be seeking to convince a judge that the Defendant must be detained in the Mercer County jail pending trial, without bail. With that being said, it has also been reported that the Defendant is not a citizen and that an ICE detainer has been logged against him. That means that regardless of what occurs at the Detention Hearing, the Defendant will be held without bail on the ICE Detainer.
