Marijuana under 50 grams is the only misdemeanor level drug possession offense in New Jersey. As a result, all other drug charges, whether it be heroin or any other drug for that matter, will be to be transferred to the Monmouth County Superior Court for disposition, as they have jurisdictions over all felony offenses in New Jersey.  So anyone caught possessing cocaine in Asbury Park will have to have their charges litigated in the Monmouth County Superior Court, which is located in Freehold, as opposed to the Asbury Park Municipal Court.
