This was done based on the uncertainty that seems to linger when it comes to the legalization of marijuana in New Jersey. The thirty-two square mile township of Wall, located in the southern region of Monmouth County, has joined the long growing list of municipalities that are proactively trying to prevent the sale of marijuana from occurring within the township, if and when marijuana is formally legalized in New Jersey. Point Pleasant has formally invoked an ordinance that prohibits the sale of marijuana, while other towns like Toms River and Middletown have introduced proposed ordinances but have held off on formally invoking it until it is, in fact, legalized. Legislative experts believe that by legalizing marijuana, the potential tax revenue that would be created could reach $300 million. However, one of the major issues for most people is how much of that revenue will each town actually receive.Facing a Marijuana Charge in Wall Township, New JerseyUntil formal legislation is passed, marijuana is still illegal in New Jersey and law enforcement throughout the State is still proactively arresting and prosecuting those accused of possessing it.
