Based on the reports, prior to serving the TRO the officers were made aware of the fact that the Defendant was the owner of a Smith & Wesson handgun as well as a firearm identification card. When a TRO is issued all firearms, including firearms identifications cards must be seized. The reports indicate that upon seizing the weapon the officers observed in \u201cplain sight\u201d what they allege were obvious signs of a drug operation.Large Quantity of Methamphetamine Located in EwingBased on their observations the officers secured a search warrant for the Defendant\u2019s home and returned the next day and executed it. During the search of the Defendant\u2019s home the officer\u2019s uncovered: 1,800 grams of meth, 52 grams of\u00a0cocaine, 184 gram of marijuana, prescription pills, vials of anabolic steroids, and about $97,000 in cash. The Defendant, who\u2019s brother happens to be a Trenton Police Officer assigned to their DEA unit was arrested and taken down to the Ewing Police Station for further questioning.At police headquarters things went from bad to worse when it appears that FBI agents entered the station and began questioning the Defendant as well. At this point in time it is unclear whether or not the Defendant was being investigated by the FBI at the time of his arrest or they became interested in speaking to him upon learning of the allegations. But what is clear is that the Federal Government is charging the Defendant and will be prosecuted by the United States Attorneys Office. The Defendant was arrested, processed and released upon the posting of a $250,000 bond.
