After receiving the tip, Somerset County prosecutor detectives along with Hillsborough detectives decided to send an undercover officer into the Route 206 massage parlor\u00a0 to further investigate. Based on the information that has been released at this point in time, when the undercover detective entered the massage parlor he was met by the Defendant. During their initial encounter the undercover officer was allegedly propositioned by the Defendant for a sexual act in exchange for U.S. currency.Based on the Defendant\u2019s alleged solicitation she was placed under arrest and taken down to the Hillsborough Police Department for processing. She was formally charged with one count of soliciting prostitution. She was released upon his own recognizance and is due to appear in the\u00a0Hillsborough Municipal Court\u00a0to answer for the charges. Provided this is the Defendant\u2019s first arrest for soliciting prostitution, the Defendant will be charged with a\u00a0disorderly persons offenses, which is New Jersey\u2019s version of a misdemeanor. If convicted, the Defendant will be facing up to six months in the Somerset County Jail and a fine up to $1,000. However, if the Defendant has previously been convicted of this offense her charge will be elevated to a fourth degree\u00a0indictable offense, which is our version of a felony and as a result the charges would need to be transferred to the Somerset County Superior Court for disposition.
