Resident Helps Nab Car BurglarA homeowner on Monmouth Road in Ocean Township helped local authorities nab car burglar. Based on the reports that have been released at this point in time, the homeowner immediately contacted the Ocean Township Police Department when they noticed a stranger rummaging through their vehicle, which was parked in their driveway. When the officers arrived on scene, the suspected attempted to flee but was quickly apprehend at a nearby 7-Eleven. Following a brief investigation, the officers were able to determine that their suspect was in fact the individual who the caller described as rummaging through their vehicle. Apparently, the suspect had several other items which the authorities believe are proceeds from other car burglaries.The suspect was placed under arrest and taken to the Ocean Township Police Department for processing. He was probably charged with at least one count of burglary, theft of moveable property and receiving stolen property. It is unclear at this point in time whether or not the authorities have been able to link him to any other car burglaries in the area. Since the suspect also had several other outstanding warrants, he was more likely than not taken to the Monmouth County Jail pending his Central Judicial Processing Hearing (CJP). At this hearing the Monmouth County Prosecutor\u2019s Office will have to determine whether or not they will be filing a formal motion to detain the defendant in the county jail, without bail, pending trial or allow the defendant on be released pre-trial monitoring. If a formal motion to detain the defendant is filed, the defendant will remain in custody until his detention hearing is conducted. During this hearing it will be the prosecutions burden to convince a judge that the defendant must be detained in the county jail, without bail, pending trial.
