After a brief conversation with the officer, the officer claim he determined that the Defendant was in\u00a0possession of marijuana. Based on that, the Defendant was asked to step outside the vehicle so that he could be placed under arrest. It was at this point in time that the Defendant attempted to pull away from the officer and flee the scene. The Defendant was quickly apprehended and it was at that point in time it was determined that he had a .32 caliber handgun in his waistband.At the end of the day, the Defendant was formally charged with possession of a firearm,\u00a0obstruction the administration of law, the\u00a0possession of marijuana, the\u00a0possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute\u00a0and several motor vehicle violations. He was taken to the Mercer County Jail where he is currently depending a\u00a0Detention Hearing.\u00a0At a Detention Hearing the prosecution will be trying to convince the Judge that the Defendant\u00a0\u00a0must be detained in the Mercer County Jail, pending trial, without bail.
