According to the reports released at this point in time, the Defendant, a fifty year old resident of West Windsor, was driving down Quakerbridge Road when he rear ended the car directly in front of him. As a result of that collision, the Defendant then slammed into another individual who was operating a motorcycle in the right lane. But it did not end there, eye witnesses then assert that the Defendant attempted to flee the scene on foot. However, he did not make it very far as he collapsed about 200 feet away from the scene and bystanders actually needed to restrain him from leaving. The operator of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the first car was taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.The Defendant was arrested and charged with one count of death by auto, one count of\u00a0assault by auto, one count of leaving the scene of a fatal accident, one count of\u00a0driving while intoxicated\u00a0and one count of possessing an open container of alcoholic beverages in a motor vehicle. The most serious charge above is death by auto. That is a second degree felony offense in New Jersey and if convicted, the Defendant could be facing up to ten years in a State Prison and a fine up to $150,000. In addition, the charges could upgraded to aggravated manslaughter, where the Defendant could be facing up to thirty years in a State Prison. It is unclear but once the Defendant was treated for his injuries he was most likely taken to the Mercer County Jail so that a pretrial service packet can be complied.
