It was an undercover operation that was geared towards investigating anyone and everyone that was involved in not only the possession but the distribution of child pornography in Monmouth County. According to nj.com, the investigation took place throughout the county over the last three months, with a strong emphasize on anyone distributing child pornography. In all, fourteen men, ranging anywhere from 18 to 69 years old were arrested and charged with the possession and the distribution of child pornography. The arrests took place over the last few weeks. To date, all Defendant\u2019s have made their initial Central Judicial Processing (CJP) hearing and have been released on some form of a bail. In all, three of the Defendant\u2019s are from\u00a0Middletown and the following towns had one of the Defendant\u2019s calling it home: Long Branch,\u00a0Asbury Park,\u00a0Ocean Township,\u00a0Wall Township, Eatontown,\u00a0Tinton Falls, Hazlet,\u00a0Neptune, Red Bank,\u00a0Freehold\u00a0and Belmar.All child pornography charges will be governed by New Jersey\u2019s\u00a0Endangering the Welfare of a Child statute, NJSA 2C:24-4. All possession of child pornography charges are considered third degree felony offenses in New Jersey. If convicted, a Defendant would be facing five (5) years in a State Prison, a $15,000 fine and a felony criminal record. Megan\u2019s Law registration does\u00a0not\u00a0apply for all possession of child pornography charges. All second degree felony charges in New Jersey are punishable by ten (10) years in a State Prison, a $150,000 fine and a felony criminal record.
